The Internship: Students interested in business, research, or software development can all find opportunities to work with Liwwa, Inc. in Jordan.

Number of Spots Available: 3-4

Duration: 10 weeks

Start Date: June 3, 2018

The Organization: Liwwa, Inc. is an online marketplace lending platform for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the MENA region.  Liwwa is a regional leader in the Fintech revolution and aims to create job and income growth by helping close the $240 billion capital access gap in the region.  Liwwa is comprised of eighteen members in its Amman, Jordan office and four in its New York office.  The team boasts graduates from top colleges in the United States, including Harvard, MIT, the University of Pennsylvania, Princeton, and Brown.

The Location: The interns will be based in Amman, Jordan, which is a safe and stable country in the Middle East.  English is widely spoken and the city is easy to maneuver on foot or by taxi, with minimal taxi fees (a normal commute to the office costs $2, and it costs $5 to get across the city).  Jordan boasts many enriching cultural and adventurous experiences.  On top of the plentiful sites and markets to visit in the city itself, Petra, Wadi Rum, and Aqaba on the Red Sea are easily accessible for weekend trips, while the Dead Sea is only a short drive away.  During the summer months, there are numerous outdoor concerts and restaurants to enjoy, as well as regular group hiking, abseiling, and cycling expeditions to discover the nearby valleys.
