This cost estimate was created on March 3, 2017 for the Fall 2017 semester. These costs are approximations and are subject to change.
The lodging and meals fee is for placement with host family or in private apartment. Home stay students eat breakfast and dinner in the home are a provided monthly allowance for mid-day meals. Apartment residents are given a monthly food subsidy. The lodging deposit applies to students living in apartments only and is refundable at the end of the semester, less damages.
The excursions and in-country travel fee is for the optional study trips organized by the Swedish Program.
The airfare price quoted above is based upon the average cost of a round-trip ticket from the gateway city of New York City to the program site. Students may depart from the city of their choice.
***Students living outside of a gateway city area may need to arrange for a connecting flight to a gateway city. These are additional variable costs, to be calculated individually by the student.
***Additionally, students may need to travel to a consulate to apply for and/or pick up a visa. These are additional variable costs to be calculated individually by the student.
The Swedish Program requires a deposit of $900. Penn Abroad pays this amount on behalf of Penn students as a courtesy. If the student does not participate in the program, they will be billed by the University of Pennsylvania to cover the deposit. Additional withdrawal fees may apply depending on the date of withdrawal and the Swedish Program's withdrawal policy.
