Notes:
This cost estimate was created on May 24, 2016 for the 2016 - 2017 academic year. These costs are approximations and are subject to change. The fees are based on those published by CUHK in the Fees Table for Incoming Students and the Costs for Exchange Students.

Please note that the hostel fee will be paid by Penn and added to the students' Penn bill at a later date (typically October).  Students will be responsible for covering the cost of the refundable hostel deposit ($130 USD) and other hostel related miscellaneous fees (approx. $125 USD)

The cost of the meals is based on the cost of food on-campus.  Students should budget more if they plan on eating off-campus frequently.  Students who are assigned to the Morningside College, S.H. Ho College, C.W. Chu College hostels are required to join a meal plan (ranging in cost from $180 USD - $260 USD per term, in addition to meal estimate above) and attend a certain number of communal dinners every week.

Lodging is based on the on-campus residence hall and the lodging deposit will be refunded 4-5 months after the check out date. Personal expenses include normal spending for cultural entertainment and essential daily needs.

The flight listed above is the estimated cost of a round trip ticket from the East Coast to Hong Kong. Students may need to arrange for a connecting flight to a gateway city. This is an additional variable cost to be calculated individually by the student.

Exchange rate:  $1.00 USD = 7.77 Hong Kong Dollar (HKD) on May 24, 2016.
