Cost Estimate Preparation: This cost estimate was prepared on October 11, 2017 for the Spring 2018 semester. These costs are approximations and are subject to change.

Exchange Rate: USD $1 = 0.84 EUR (October 11, 2017)

Lodging: Includes housing for semester and housing deposit.

Meals: No additional information.  

Personal Expenses: This estimate is meant to cover general expenses of college life, including supplies, photocopying, toiletries, snacks, cell phone, etc. Personal expenses do not include any entertainment or vacation travel costs.

Books and Supplies: Based on information provided by Goethe's exchange student handbook.

Mandatory Health Insurance: Students from non-EU countries must purchase a German health insurance. A list of German insurance providers are listed in the expenses section of the Goethe's exchange student handbook

Additional Program Information: Before enrollment, a €300 enrollment fee (subject to change, the exact amount is indicated on your Zulassungsbescheid) is required. This sum comprises the following amounts: 26% for Student Services; 4% for Student Body Committees; the remaining 70% for the costs of the semester ticket of the Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund (RMV). Residency Permit and Required On-site Documentation includes German residency permit for the duration of the program. 

Students are required to take a mandatory German language course prior to their semester beginning. The cost of this course is invoiced directly to Penn Abroad.
