Meals: The cost listed above is an estimate for students living in the dormitories or in off-campus apartments. Students placed in Homestays will have breakfast and dinner provided during the week and three meals a day on weekends. Homestay students only need to budget for lunches during the week, estimated at $600 for one semester.

Personal Expenses: This estimate is meant to cover general expenses of college life, including additional course supplies, photocopying, toiletries, snacks, cell phone, etc. Personal expenses do not include any entertainment or vacation travel costs.

Additional Program Information: CIEE charges a $300 nonrefundable deposit which Penn pays to CIEE as a courtesy for Penn students. This happens once students change their application to "committed" in the Penn Abroad portal. However, if the student decides not to participate in the program after committing, or does not meet relevant academic performance requirements by the end of the semester prior to studying abroad, they will be billed $300 by the University of Pennsylvania to cover the nonrefundable deposit.
