This cost estimate was prepared on April 3, 2017 for the Fall 2017 semester. These costs are subject to change. 

Lodging estimate is based on the average cost of a standard single, catered room in St Andrews accommodation.  Catered accommodation includes 19 meals a week.

Meals estimate includes the cost for weekend dinners (not included in catered accommodation).

The airfare price quoted above is based upon the average cost of a round-trip ticket from the gateway city of Philadelphia to Edinburgh. Students may depart from the city of their choice.

***Students living outside of a gateway city area may need to arrange for a connecting flight to a gateway city. These are additional variable costs, to be calculated individually by the student.


Students who need to apply in advance for a short-term study visa will be charged a visa application fee. For students who enter as student visitors at the port of entry, there is no fee.

Exchange rate: US$1 = 0.79 pounds (February 2017).
