Cost Estimate Preparation: This cost estimate was prepared on March 8, 2018 for the Fall 2018 semester. These costs are approximations and are subject to change.

Exchange Rate: USD $1 = 0.81 EUR (3/8/17)

Lodging: Includes housing for semester and housing deposit. Cost is for homestay (required for students who have completed FREN 202) or student dorm/private housing (available for students who have completed FREN 212 or above).

Meals: Students can keep their food costs within the budget by taking advantage of the inexpensive meals at the university cafeterias and preparing their own meals. 

Personal Expenses: This estimate is meant to cover general expenses of college life, including additional course supplies, photocopying, toiletries, snacks, cell phone, etc. Personal expenses do not include any entertainment or vacation travel costs.

Local Transportation: Cost of monthly ticket at student price for duration of program.

Books and Supplies: No additional information. 

Additional Program Information: Visa fees include Campus France registration ($180) and visa application fee (approximately $80). Visa fees are subject to change; individuals should consult consulate websites for application fees. Columbia charges an $800 Program Fee which subsidizes program activities, course materials, mandatory French insurance, and printing supplies.  Penn Abroad will pay this fee to Columbia on the student's behalf. The charge will then appear on the student's Penn bill as two separate items ($300 Insurance and $500 miscellaneous or program fee).
