Students are required to pay an application fee of $30 for this program.  Penn Abroad will credit the application fee to the student's Penn Student Account upon successful completion of the program.

CIEE charges a $300 nonrefundable deposit. Penn pays this amount to CIEE as a courtesy for Penn students. However, if the student decides not to enroll in the the program, they will be billed $300 by the University of Pennsylvania to cover the nonrefundable deposit.

Lodging:  Students placed in Homestays will have breakfast and dinner provided during the week and three meals a day on weekends. 

Meals:  For dormitory and off-campus houses or apartments; homestay students only need to budget for lunches during the week, estimated at $600 for one semester.

Personal expenses:  Actual expenses will vary according to student interests and spending habits.

**The flight expense listed above is the estimated cost of a round trip ticket from a gateway city on the U.S. East Coast to Tanzania.

***Students living outside of the East Coast or an international airport may need to arrange for a connecting flight.  These are additional variable costs, to be calculated individually by the student.

Exchange rate:  $1.00 USD = 1966.19 Tanzanian Shilling (TZS) on May 19, 2015.
