Additional Program Information: CIEE charges a $300 nonrefundable deposit which Penn pays to CIEE as a courtesy for Penn students. This happens once students change their application to "committed" in the Penn Abroad portal. However, if the student decides not to participate in the program after committing, or does not meet relevant academic performance requirements by the end of the semester prior to studying abroad, they will be billed $300 by the University of Pennsylvania to cover the nonrefundable deposit. For academic year students or for those that do not receive a multiple entry visa or a visa to cover the duration of the program pre-departure, there will be a $150 onsite visa change/extension fee (this includes the cost of the required medical/physical exam at a designated Chinese Hospital).
