Exchange rate: US $1.00 = 0.705 Jordanian Dinar (JOD) (April 10, 2017)

Program Deposit/Confirmation Fee: AMIDEAST charges a $500 non-refundable deposit at the time that the student commits to the study abroad program.  The University of Pennsylvania pays this amount to AMIDEAST as a courtesy for Penn students.  However, Penn students who decide to withdraw after committing to the program will be billed $500 by the University of Pennsylvania to cover the non-refundable deposit. Additional withdrawal fees may apply depending on the date of withdrawal and AMIDEAST's withdrawal policy.

Lodging and Meals: Lodging and meals costs listed above are only for students living with host families. 
  • Students who opt to live in apartments should budget an additional $1,000 - $2,000 USD for meals.
  • A $300 housing deposit is required for students living in apartments. The housing deposit is fully refundable at the conclusion of the semester if the apartment is clean and there has been no damage other than normal wear and tear. 
Visa: A single-entry Jordanian visa costs 40 JD (approximately $57 USD).  This price is subject to change.

Roundtrip Flight from Gateway City: The flight expense listed above is the estimated cost of a round trip ticket from the gateway city of New York to Amman.  However, you may depart from the city of your choice.
***Students living outside the gateway city may need to arrange for a connecting flight to a gateway city at an additional variable cost, to be calculated individually by the student.
