The IFSA-Butler housing component is guaranteed for students and includes housing while classes are in session and two meals per day. Students will be living with Cuban families in casas particulares which is similar to a bed and breakfast. All rooms are shared with one other student from the program and there are normally four students per casa particular. All rooms have air conditioning, a safety box, access to a kitchen, and a shared bathroom.
The cost for books and supplies is low because most reading material (not all) is passed along via flashdrive.
Students will be charged for an additional, mandatory Cuban health insurance that is required for all studying in Cuba.
Personal expenses are estimates for general expenses of college life, including: course supplies, photocopying, toiletries, snacks, personal care, etc. It does not factor in any entertainment or personal travel costs.
Transportation for personal or recreational purposes is not included in the above estimates.
If student needs to arrange for travel to a gateway city, these are additional variable costs, to be calculated individually by the student.
