Exchange rate: US $1.00 = .93 Euro (January 2017)
Miscellaneous Fees relate to the following Jacobs Univ. charges: University fee (for campus activities), Semester ticket (for local transportation), and Broadcasting fee (a mandatory fee for German students for public television and radio).
Personal expenses include normal spending for cultural entertainment and essential daily needs.
A Residence Permit is required for all non-German students studying abroad in Germany. Penn students who are US citizens do not need a visa to study in Germany. Students who are not US citizens should consult the German Missions in the United States website to determine if they need a visa. Additional charges may apply to obtain a visa, to be calculated by the student.
Students are required to obtain German health insurance for their semester in Bremen. Students need to keep the health insurance that covers them in the US as well.
The flight expense listed above is the estimated cost of a round trip ticket from the gateway city of Philadelphia to Bremen. However, you may depart from the city of your choice.
***Additionally, students living outside of the Philadelphia area may need to arrange for a connecting flight to a gateway city. These are additional variable costs, to be calculated individually by the student.
